In Veil a Second Time: Eastern Veil Nebula attempt #2 - 11-12/08/2024

Hello again! Recently I've shown you my first attempt at the Eastern Veil Nebula - NGC 6992 That attempt was of course very out of focus, but I decided to give that data a shot anyway as BlurXterminator made it workable  This time however, I have a much better attempt to show off! This one was taken across two nights, on the 11th and 12th of August last summer. Honestly, I'm still not too happy with this, definitely not by my today's standards haha.. there are some weird color gradients in the image that I just could not get rid of no matter what I tried - unless those gradients are dust that I just didn't capture properly? Either way, decided not to waste more time trying to fix it, shit data in - shit results out haha I cannot WAIT to shoot this target again with my current setup the upcoming summer though! Here is the final image, in total I gathered about 3.5h.. this is of course still data from my old, slower telescope as well as the Canon 1300D DSLR, so that rea...

A little bit of spin: Jupiter (12min of rotation) - 11/08/2024

Hi again! Today we've got a rare occasion where there's not just an image - but a video! After imaging deepsky thruout the night on August 10th/11th last year, I configured my scope for planetary and pointed it towards Jupiter before disassembling the rig. This was just as the Sun was rising, it was very interesting trying to see Jupiter for as long as possible before it disappeared in the daylight! Due to this, you can also see the background of the video get brighter over time :) I ended up grabbing data across about 12 minutes with my random brand-less 2x barlow, individual frames were processed in AstroSurface (which I've been liking a lot!), and then put together into a video with PIPP! I'm honestly surprised just how much Jupiter rotates in just 12 minutes! When I took the data, I didn't even think about putting it together into an animation, but now that I'm processing my old data I thought I'd try it! Hope you enjoy it:   Also on Astrobin: https://ap...
